Satavahanas/ Western Kshatrapas Feudatories, Mahasenapatis/Mahagamikas, South Vidarbha/North Telangana area, Copper Alloyed , 7.36g, Obv: Swastika in centre, traces of Brahmi legend to top left, Rev: Traces of thunderbolt and arrow motif. About very fine, very rare.
The Swastika-type coins were issued by Mahasenapatis/Mahagamikas of the 'Sagama' family or its lesser branch, as evident from coins with full legends. These feudatories accepted a vassal position to the Kshaharata Kshatrapas, when Nahapana penetrated deep into the Deccan during the Satavahana – Kshaharata struggle. This is evidence by the adoption of the Kshaharata dynastic emblem on reverse.
