Pre-Satavahana, Marathwada, Vidarbha region, Uninscribed die-struck coin, Copper, 2.98g, Obv: Elephant standing facing, Rev: Tree with delicate leaves interspersed with small Nandipada symbols, and flanked by other small symbols like an ‘Ujjain’ symbol to right. Very fine, extremely rare.
The coin has an unusually detailed and artistic symbolic program. The depiction of a facing elephant is also highly unusual for a Deccan series of uninscribed coins.
