Akbar, Copper 1/8 Tanka, 6.79g, struck to the local Malwa standards, Burhanpur Mint, with additional word ‘Jalalah’ on reverse, Ilahi Month Farwardin, Year 46. Very fine+, very rare.
The additional word 'Jalalahu' is observed on rare fractional coppers of Akbar of mintless type and Burhanpur mint. Dr. Abhishek Chatterjee has opined that they were struck during the siege of Asirgarh which lasted from Tir 45 to Bahman 45. However, this coin has Farwardin 46 on it which is two months out of the purview of this date range. Coins of Ardibihisht 46 are also known.
